Hello Chili Pepper fans, and welcome to the "Blood Sugar" website. We have been a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band since 2001. We formed the band primarily because of our common love for the Chili Peppers' music. The name "Blood Sugar" was taken from the now legendary 1991 album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik. This album had a profound impact on us as musicians, so in return, we christened ourselves after the abbreviated title. Before Blood Sugar came into being we were an ordinary covers band without any direction. Regularly, punters would pull us aside and say; "You play the Chilis' stuff really well, you should start a tribute to them!", and so, Blood Sugar was born. We spent months and months in rehearsals until finally we felt we were ready. And so it began . For five years on and off, we played in almost every one of the better venues in Ireland. We rocked as hard as we could, playing every gig as if it were our last. We knew before we ever began Blood Sugar that there was no point in doing a half-ass job; give it everything, or give it up. So we gave it everything. Gradually over time, some minor cracks were starting to appear in the band. Our bass player had lost his spark. Our singer also had his own shit to deal with. Things were falling apart slowly but surely, so in mid-2006, feeling crestfallen, we pushed the whole idea to one side. Was this the end for Blood Sugar? No. It wasn't. Spending time away from the band made us realise how well we gelled together, not only as musicians, but as friends. We missed playing to fellow fans of our favourite band. Unfortunately our bass player didn't feel the same, and regrettably we parted ways. Anxious to start rehearsing and hungry to get gigging again, we advertised for a replacement. We were just two songs into one of our auditions when we realised that Dave Clare was our man. He was awesome, so much like Flea it was uncanny, so once again Blood Sugar were ready to rock. Since recruiting Dave, we are making a sound
that we feel the Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves would be proud
of. We are working very hard on getting things right for when we
bring our show to the public for the first time in almost a year.
We knew our show was good, but now it is better than ever before.
So whether you are a fan of the Chilis' or not, get your coat on
and come see Blood Sugar play. You'll be in for a Rockin surprise! Check them out....Soon!!! |
